Some days are good and some days are bad. Well, today was not our finest. When I picked Lucy up from daycare I could tell that she was wound up and would probably have a pretty tough evening.
She had SO much energy tonight. Here she is right before we tried to wrangle her into her pajamas:
She wasn't cranky by any means, but she was so amped up that it was actually impossible for her to listen to our directions.
You know who wasn't impressed with her antics? This guy:
All credit goes to Steve who did the bulk of the wrangling this evening. I bowed out early in the bedtime process knowing full well that I just didn't have the patience tonight to deal with Lucy's high energy and lack of listening.
During times like this, Steve and I come back to two different sayings that put things into perspective.
"If they could do better, they would." A friend of ours that teaches preschool once said to me that kids this age spend all day at school trying to be really good and sometimes they just can't do it all the way to bedtime. I suppose I would rather have her be good to her teachers and her friends and struggle at home.
"When they need love the most is when they are least lovable." Holy crap. Anyone with kids will agree with that statement. Or maybe it's just my kids?
