Who Doesn't Love a Good Vest?

When I met Steve, I didn't understand his love of vests. What is so special about an article of clothing that only keeps your torso warm while completely ignoring your arms? Steve clearly needed to keep his midsection toasty, and he did so with a navy blue vest that he wore everywhere. He took some ribbing from his friends about it, but he continued to sport his vest proudly.

I was still confused by his love of vests until I went to his family's house and saw that vests are a necessary item if you are to be a member of the Soden family. I joked that they were the "Vest Family Robinson," and for our first Christmas his parents welcomed me to the family with my very own navy blue fleece vest.

I have to admit that I have come around to the whole vest thing. I wear them fairly often and still wear the one that his parents got me 7 years ago. And now Steve has passed this love down to our children. When Steve found this vest at the L. L. Bean outlet on super clearance, he nearly did a cartwheel down the aisle.

This is a pic of Lucy tonight right before going for a walk with Steve. He claimed that it was "perfect vest weather." What is that exactly? Weather than only attacks the torso while leaving the arms untouched?

  1. I don't get the vest thing, either. But then I read that vest wearing is like sleeping under lots of blankets with a leg hanging out, which I totally do. So maybe I'll have to give it a try...except not hear because I'm pretty sure it's rarely vest weather.
