Our yard is miniscule, and what grass we do have is mowed by the school which owns the house. We do, however, have a small grassy/weedy patch that we turned into a garden last summer. I had no idea what I was doing, but I went to the nursery, bought some perennials that looked pretty, and hoped that they came back after the winter. The winter was mild, and that may have been a good thing because a couple of the plants were on death's door in late August.
Miraculously all of the plants came back. We are going to add some planters and baskets for the front and back porch, but this is a start:
Aren't you proud, Mom and Dad? All of those summers of mowing lawn and weeding are finally paying off :-)
