After soccer we ran home to pick up the dog and head to Marion to see Cookie and Grumps. Lucy was so pooped from soccer that she immediately fell asleep, but Caroline stayed awake the entire time. That is definitely one of the differences between the girls. Lucy, much like me, can fall asleep pretty easily in the car. Caroline, on the other hand, will stay awake almost out of spite (more on that later).
Anyway, we arrived and played happily:

Then we were treated to Red Robin. I LOVE Red Robin. It's not really because of the food (although it is certainly good) but instead because of my childhood memories there. Meme would often take me and Andrew there when we were kids. I have many happy memories of drinking milkshakes with Meme and Andrew at the Red Robin at Northgate Mall. It has become a bit of a tradition when we go to Marion which makes me very happy.
Now as a parent I really appreciate Red Robin because it is incredibly child friendly - balloons, crayons, quick service, good food, beer (for adults, of course), and enough background noise that if your child has a total meltdown no one will care.
Here are some pics of our dining experience:

After dinner everyone was pretty tired so we headed home. On Sunday Lucy got to have some special Cookie and Grumps time all by herself. They took her to a children's play of "The Velveteen Rabbit." They were also thoughtful enough to give her the book a month or so ago, so we have been reading it at home prior to this visit. Lucy had a great time. When asked what her favorite part was, she responded, "Eating popcorn." Nice.
After everyone came home we had a great dinner with the Cooks, Cookie and Grumps' neighbors, and then headed home. Lucy had a bit of a meltdown (no nap and being the center of attention takes it out of you). She was asleep within 15 minutes of our departure. Caroline had other plans. She stayed up until 9 pm (two full hours after her bedtime) and serenaded us with every nursery rhyme and Yo Gabba Gabba song she could think of. It was a long drive.
I love Caroline's "hair fountain"!

It's good to have you comment. It lets me know that someone is actually reading it :)
ReplyDeleteI'm reading! It's just my comments aren't quite as witty as Emily's. :)
