Sibling Rivalry

When Lucy had her first loose tooth, she was so scared to pull it out of her mouth. It was actually hanging by a (disgusting) string before it finally fell out on its own.

We told Caroline this story in hopes that it would calm her fears of pain with her first loose tooth coming out. Instead, Caroline took this as a challenge and then chose to rip the tooth out of her mouth while we were out at dinner. She then kept telling us how brave she was and mocked Lucy by saying, "You know, Lucy, I am much braver than you were when you were my age."

Oy.

I guess that's one way to motivate Caroline. Consider it noted.

Good boy, Boog.

As mentioned in my post on Sunday, our sweet bulldog, Boog, passed away in July. While he was older for a bulldog and had some health issues, his passing was a surprise. We came home on the Fourth of July to find him upstairs (which was very odd for him) and having great difficulty breathing. Steve rushed him to the emergency vet and he passed within minutes of getting there.

Truth be told: Boog drove me nuts. He ate all articles of clothing (but really loved underwear ... gross), he threw up said articles of clothing, he went to the bathroom in the house, he got up on the couch even when he wasn't allowed, his breath could peel wallpaper, and he was often cranky with the girls.

But I loved him.

He was our first baby before we had actual human children. He loved his people and wanted nothing more than to snuggle next to you. He was a good boy. And his absence made me much sadder than I would have thought, particularly in those moments when I was annoyed by the mess he left on the floor or the dog hair and drool that was all over our couch.

So even though it is months later, RIP Boogie. You were a good boy, and we were the lucky ones to have you in our family.

We are still here!

Since my last post in July, a lot has happened! Our house was renovated and finally finished, Steve and I started new jobs, the girls started a new school, our sweet bulldog, Boog, passed away, and we got a new dog, Jake. On top of all of that, we have been getting to know our new surroundings and making new friends.

I have felt very guilty for not posting more pictures and updates on this blog, but it has been difficult to keep all of the balls in the air.

So.

We are still here and settled, and the pictures below are from our afternoon in the yard today where we enjoyed a BALMY 45 degree day. Here in Wisconsin, it is pretty unheard of to have weather this warm in early December, but I certainly am not complaining!

Good Times in Seattle, Part 5

One last beach visit:

Good Times in Seattle, Part 4

Mornings with Rocco:

Good Times in Seattle, Part 3

We drove to Salt Creek Rec Area and had a great time. We explored the tidal pools and swam in the water. It started out foggy but turned out to be a nice day.
The parking was right next to an old army bunker.
It was pretty huge and awesome to explore.
