We were not, in fact, going the wrong way.
Caroline happily played with books.
The rest of the trip was pretty good. Both girls napped, we didn't have any huge traffic issues, and we arrived about when we thought we would.
When we arrived, the girls were very wound up and bedtime was a little tough. We put Lucy and Cate in the same room which provided some wonderful entertainment for all. Eventually everyone went to sleep and we woke up ready to rip.
After a healthy breakfast of donuts, we headed to the beach. Although it was overcast, it was still very warm and humid and no one was sad about getting into the water. When we arrived, I realized that I had forgotten how big the waves are here compared to our beach at home. Everyone was a little apprehensive at first. It was not helped at all by the fact that when we first tried to take Lucy, Caroline, and Cooper out, all of the adults got hit by a GIANT wave and pretty much every kid got an up close and personal encounter with water. Eventually Lucy went out into the water and swam by herself (with a life jacket) out with the adults.

Meanwhile, back on the beach, the other kids played well. When I took the camera out, Cooper said, "Take pictures of me while I run!" So here are the pics:
In general, everyone played well together and had a great time.

Dear lord. This one is one of my favorites. She is such a little devil. |
When it came time for us to try a shot of all four cousins, Lucy decided to be a bum:

Eventually she got it together and this was the best shot of the morning:
